Repainting the ancient parable on the Auditorium wall with gold paint.
Greetings from the Meeting House!
Let's start with an announcement:
Important Parish Meeting
Sunday, September 23 12:45 – 2:00 PM
Lunch and Childcare Available
We have made a number of discoveries as we work to
preserve the historic Meeting House, renovate the B-Wing, and build our new addition.
All of these are interesting and have challenging implications. Please come so
you can keep up to date on what is happening and what needs to be done as we
go forward. We need your on-going participation and support. Thank you in advance!
We’ll have amazing food from our own “Food Haulers” beginning
immediately after the second service. Childcare will be available. Please
come.
Hard Hat Update
It appears that our chaos has crested, and order is reasserting itself,
seeping in from both ends of the building.
A-Wing
The painting is completed in the Lobby. From the construction stand point,
all that is left in the Lobby is nailing new baseboards. We are replacing
the previous ranch-style base with a more appropriate profile. If you suspect
foot-dragging in restoring the Lobby to its previous cluttered state, you are
correct. We are taking a hard look at what and how we put items there and
in the West Hallway.
The Hearth Room is plastered and painted! The Narcissus quote is back and
fresh! Cy Muldowney, our sign painter, said his father painted the
names in the Hearth Room dome. The offices are showing signs of paint, and the
plasterers expect to be done in the Loggia by Wednesday, and the back hall by
Thursday. Watch for more surprising and exciting colors.
B-Wing
The B-Wing is done! The Meeting House Nursery School opened today, and all
are pleased with the improvements. The teachers worked through the weekend
unpacking and adding their unique styles to the rooms.
The B-Wing offices are ready to occupy, but we won’t accept delivery of
the furniture until the A Wing offices are ready (September 24). The office
furniture will take a week to install ( it involves wiring), so the staff will
move out of the trailers October 1. The staff whose offices will be in the
B-Wing, Harry, Bill, Luelle, Leslie, Kim and Alex, are bearing up well under
the anticipation.
D-Wing
The footing for the radius wall was poured on Wednesday. We want to get
this completed because it will serve as a retaining wall. This will allow
backfilling, creating more space to store materials. Footings for other
parts of the building are being laid out as it all begins to take shape. Things
appear to be moving quickly!
That's it for today. - David Weber

Concrete footings for the eastern wall of the addition are begun.
