Goodbye Pink Walls

The gap is all filled in, all tamped down with all the necessary pipes buried.  The geothermal supply line is “stubbed off, to be re-exposed when the wells are drilled.

Preservation

We are into the “what’s with that?” phase.  Somehow the fresh paint makes old defects become  more visible.  Last Sunday we noticed a  defect in the plaster in the Hearth Room cupola (just to the left of Jenkin Lloyd Jones).  Close inspection revealed that it had been present since the original plastering.  It’s part of the “historic fabric”.

Construction

Greg Sweeney, our site superintendent reports that he has four different crews working now, and more iron workers are due tomorrow.

“ How high will it be?”  The far wall by Ronald McDonald House is 25 feet.  The sight of gives me a sense of the worship space.  I think it will be very powerful.

There is a gap at  the east end of the A wall.  This is the New Entrance.  We will walk in and turn right to find the door.

Down on the ground:

The “B” line of columns is complete as far as the Kitchen, and will be complete by the end of the week.

The new classrooms are ready for the cement floor to be poured, and the under floor action has moved to the bathrooms to get plumbing into the ground so that floor can be poured too.

The pit for the elevator was dug yesterday, and the footings go in tomorrow.
