The struts, nuts and bolts get a final coat.

May 21, 2008

Greetings

We are marching toward completion, with saws and drywall screws screaming.

Sidewalk Superintending

The big change from the upper sidewalk is the advancing copper roofing, now covering the Portico, soon to rim the entire Auditorium roof. But head down to the Annex to see some major changes. The shed and woodpile/trash heap are gone, gone, gone!  With the assistance of the Lull lifting machine, we relocated the Nursery School shed.  Because they store tricycles in it, it must live close to the sidewalk.
If you continue, you can admire the West courtyard, which is becoming quite a wonderful space.

Out of Sight
The maple trim around the windows that separate the Balcony from the Upper crossing is going in, and the concrete floor is expanding beyond the balcony.
On the lower level, all of the interior walls have drywall on one side. They will get insulation blown in for sound control before the second side goes up.

The elevator is here. We are not looking for volunteers to help put it together.
And, the first cabinets are installed in the big classroom. The partition wall between C-5 and C-7 is down, and you can see what a nice room it will be for childcare.

Tours

I am planning to lead tours after both services on Sunday. Look for me in the Hearthroom.

Volunteers

Check out our new Volunteer Center on the Web site. It is just a start - So if you have a task you need a volunteer for, please let Harry Carnes know.

Equipment Needed:  We have lots of hose, but we will need to borrow a number of lawn sprinklers through the summer as we proceed with grass planting.

Tearing up: Help remove Fire alarms from the trailers June 9 (all day).

Fabrication:  There are many things to build, and we need people to take on projects. If you would like helpers, Rae Gilbertson (rg@mailbag.com) can put you in touch.
- Aldo Leopold benches from some of the trailer deck (as many as 20)
- Music Storage Shelves (Rough for Music archives, Maple Plywood for Linda and Heather’s Office)
- Plywood built in shelves in B6, B15, and B16

Thanks
To our Thursday gardeners; Nancy Ragland, Shirley Chosy, and Jennifer Seaman

This is the new copper roof over the entry portico. It’s blue because the sky is blue.

Numerous connections to the historic meeting house are being buried underground.

Trees! (Muscle wood) Note the beautiful border laid by our loyal volunteers. The lawn area was seeded on Tuesday.
