Greetings...From the leafy cap of the freshest green building in town. The sedum is arriving! Two semi-trailer loads arrived on Tuesday, two more on Wednesday, and a single one today (Thursday) will finish the job. Even from University Bay Drive one can see a green fringe against the sky. We may even get some blossoms on it this year. Learn more about green roofs at the website of our green roofing subcontractor, LiveRoofs, at: http://www.liveroof.com/pg/Green_Roof_Basics Sidewalk SuperintendingThere is a good chance that the fence will be down by the weekend. Feel free to indulge in a closer inspection.ParkingPlease note that this week we embark on a new pattern of parking. Where in the past cars have pointed east and west, now all cars will point north and south. If you plan on using the lot on Sunday, please allow extra time. We are planning to have parking guides, but patience and good humor will make the process better.InsideThe big cleanup has started, because Monday the place gets turned over to the floor crew for grinding, neutralizing, staining and sealing. The air handlers (big blowers as near as I can tell) will be running to facilitate the curing of the floor finish. The custom lights from FireFarm have arrived, but won't go up until the dust is gone. The wall sconces in the Auditorium are fabricated from copper pieces from the roofs of both the historic Meeting House and the Lower Meeting House.VolunteerOur erosion control permit requires that we have all open areas seeded and mulched by September 1, so there are many opportunities for seeding, rototilling, mulching and planting. The green roof also needs an inspection and weeding every two or three weeks. Woodworkers: we still need volunteers to make bulletin boards and shelves. I think as we move in we will be inspired to develop other projects. The final layer of the Upper Crossing floor. It's "self-leveling;"apparently that means liquid. |
