Editorial policy for the Madison Unitarian (MU)
1. Purpose The MU's purpose is to organize, highlight and distribute information about the philosophy, services, activities and functions of the First Unitarian Society of Madison, its members and its affiliated organizations.
2. Audience The audience of the MU is the members, friends, and potential members and friends of FUS. These groups receive the publication free of charge. In addition, the newsletter is available via subscription for $40 per year.
3. Editorial Content
- a. The primary source of content for the MU is the contributions of FUS staff, committees and councils, and affiliated organizations. Content should generally be about FUS-centered areas of interest. All contributions should be from or explicitly endorsed by a staff member, committee, council or affiliated organization.
- b. Secondary sources of content, listed in order of priority, are contributions:
- 1. from the district, denomination, or UUA affiliated groups
- 2.directly from members
- 3. from non-affiliated non-profit organizations
- 4. from other sources.
- Secondary source contributions should be of general interest to the FUS audience, and are included on a space available basis only, i.e.: additional pages will not be added to the newsletter to include them.
- c. The Madison Unitarian does not accept advertising.
- d. All editorial content is subject to editing and or clarification by the editor.
4. Contribution Methods. The preferred method of receiving contributions is via e-mail to newsletter@fusmadison.org. E-mail messages are preferred to attachments. All e-mail contributions are acknowledged. Please include your name and telephone number in e-mail contributions. Hand written and typewritten copy is accepted, but are preferred early in the deadline period. Typewritten copy is strongly preferred to hand written.
5. Deadlines
- The deadline is the end of the business day, the Monday before publication, or by 10 a.m. the following Tuesday.
- No contributions are accepted after the Tuesday, 10 a.m. deadline!
