GREEN LIVING & SPIRITUALITY
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Earth day is every day. This site provides ideas, actions and things that you
can do to bring the UU Seventh Principle of Respect for the interdependent
web of all existence of which we are a part to life!

Social change starts at home. This page is meant to provide some tips to make our lives follow our environmental values.
Water Communion Services September 6 and 7
Remember to bring a little water sample back from your favorite
summer place far or near if you have not already. Any container
will do! We will use the water you bring during the Water Communion
Services September 6 and 7. As part of the service, the samples of water
that are brought are combined to acknowledge water’s common connection
with all life across the planet. We will have the service in the Historic
Auditorium and then have fellowship in the new space. ?

EAT & BUY LOCAL
EAT LOCAL
THE 100 MILE DIET OR START WITH DINNER!
“When the average North American sits down to eat, each ingredient has typically traveled at least 1,500 miles—call it "the SUV diet." (See the 100 Mile Diet web site - http://100milediet.org/category/about/ ) The distance our food travels and the ensuing impacts is just one of the many reasons to eat local.
WHY EAT LOCAL?
Food is a blessing – By eating locally grown food we acknowledge this blessing from the soils and farmers of our own community
Build
community health and sustainability – Locally grown food using organic and
low impact farming methods is healthy not only for you and your family but
also for the environment. It protects and sustains the land for the future.
Strong Local Communities – when we buy locally more of our money stays local supporting local farms, businesses and our local economy.

Celebrate diversity! – Our local faming community is diverse and a trip to the farmers market reveals a large variety of herbs, fruits, vegetables and meats. Explore new flavors and the seasonality of our food supply. Share recipes.
