Evening Parking Alternatives for
Visiting the Meeting House
Parking at the Unitarian Meeting House is often very challenging, especially during popular special events. In view of this, we suggest some simple strategies for combating the congestion.
Strategy 1: Public Transportation and carpooling are recommended. The Meeting House is on several bus lines and is generally easy to get to on Madison Metro. If Public Transportation is not a good alternative, we encourage you to carpool, keeping the number of vehicles in the area at minimum, and reducing our carbon footprint.Strategy 2: Avoid the Meeting House parking lot unless you have difficulty walking. You are unlikely to find a spot. If you have passengers who have difficulty walking, pull into the lot and drop them off, and then park in another area. Handicapp parking is available.
Strategy 3: Try parking in Marshall Court. Just south of the Meeting House are a number of parking lots generally avaliable in the evenings. Please do not park in private areas marked as restricted. The parking lot furthest south (along the rail lines) is almost always empty and is an easy walk up the hill. To get to it, be alert when you are pulling onto University Bay from University, and turn left right after you cross the tracks. Please park on the north (right) side of the lot.
Strategy 4: If Marshall Court is congested, another alternative is the Waisman Center lot, North of the Meeting House on the left. It also is an easy stroll and affords a beautiful view of Frank Lloyd Wright's dramitic prow.
Conclusion: Thank you for your patience, and we hope your visit to our facility is an enjoyable one.
