December 16 & 17 – Do Critters Go To Heaven?

Legend has it that Jesus was born on a bed of straw, surrounded by peaceful domestic creatures. Carols have been written about the scene (we’ll sing one this weekend) and stories composed about the awe these mute witnesses felt in the child’s presence. And yet in Christianity critters have never been counted among the saved. Do they deserve to be? An update of a popular reflection first delivered in 2003.

Guest musicians Chris Wagoner and Laurie Lang Croasdale, co-founders of Harmonious Wail, will play on Saturday. Madison Bach Musicians’ Kristen Davis and Trevor Stephenson will present music for baroque flute and Italian harpsichord on Sunday.
