July 9 – Give Us Barabbas, 9 & 11 a.m.
For this morning’s services I will reprise a subject I shared with a small audience on Good Friday. Barabbas figured prominently in the trial of Jesus, and this “bandit” was something of a favorite among ancient Jewish populists. Much has been written about the reemergence of populism in our own time. What lessons, if any, might we draw from this first century Biblical account?
Violinist Wendy Adams, flutist Gary Leisman, and pianist Dan Broner will play the musical offerings.
