June 4 – America’s Favorite Misanthrope, at 9 & 11 a.m.
“America’s Favorite Misanthrope”
Michael Schuler, Senior Minister
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Henry David Thoreau, sometimes celebrated as America’s most influential naturalist and an inspiration to today’s libertarians. Frank Lloyd Wright, who turns 150 on June 8, greatly admired Thoreau and his is one of six names Wright had inscribed in the Meeting House’s Hearth Room dome. Join us for an exploration of a figure of historical significance and ongoing relevance.
The Society Choir will sing Alleluias by Randall Thompson and contemporary Swedish composer Fredrik Sixten.
